There is a hostel tradition at our backpackers inn that staff a members birthday is celebrated as a staff event.
Usually a cake and some kind of food is put out on our patio (weather permitting). We celebrated Michel’s birthday at a local restaurant.
How did he rate the full treatment , you ask? Well Michel is a banker who is also Assistant Manager on weekends at the hostel. Thus, as a senior staff member and long time hostel employee, he rates the full treatment.
His dinner was held at the Rivoli on Queen Street, just two blocks from our hostel’s front door.
