Canada has been a multi-cultural nation (officially) since 1967. And it is generally accepted (according to the U.N.) that Toronto is the most ethnically diverse city on the planet.
There are a lot of cities with ethnic enclaves but on close examination they have nothing that compares with Toronto’s cultural diversity.
You can turn on the television and obtain weekly programming in Urdu; Bantu; Swahili; Khmer; Polish; German; Vietnamese; Korean; Farsi etc., etc. The Chinese and French communities even have their own networks.
The melange of cultures is also reflected in the makeup of our hostel staff. Our employees can converse with you in English (of course) and also in French; Spanish; Portuguese; Chinese; Japanese; Hindi; German; Dutch and Afrikaans.
That merely reflects the diversity of the city itself.
