So Long Shyster!

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

Geoff (and it IS Ge-off! He got all bent-out-of-shape when I spelled his name “Jeff”!) had a going away party.

He’s a lawyer from Oz and we all know how popular lawyers are!

Geoff has been working and traveling  for six years and has finally deecided to go home and practice law!

He’s landed a pretty good appointment with the government in the federal capital of Canberra. He’s looking forward to a new challenge.

But we think he’ll stay put for a while; you see, Geoff is also going home to marry his long-time girlfriend.

A lot of people showed up at the Fox for his farewell party. He was actually pretty popular both at his work and at the hostel where he had been a guest since January of this year!

Not a bad turn out – for a lawyer!

Anna and Christine

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009

Anna and Christine are two young Danish girls who came to Canada to attend a summer camp in the Ottawa Valley.

When their fellow Danes all left for home, the adventurous duo decided to remain in Canada to do a little traveling.

What strikes us about these young ladies is the quality of their English language skills. English is obviously their second language but they both speak it with the facility of a native speaker.

We are used to Scandanavians (the Dutch and Germans also) speaking excellent English. But these two girls stand out even among this group.

You can tell that they have done a lot of wilderness camping this summer. Despite the fact that our patio is well equipped with tables and chairs, they prefered to sit on the ground. (Check the photo out!)
