It has been five long years since she was last at our hostel.
Julia from Germany was with us in 2005 when she spent the better part of the summer in Toronto.
It is a pleasant surprise when an old friend turns up at the hostel completely unannounced. When a familar voice and very familiar face shows up on the patio it can come as quite a shock.
Julia has arrived on vacation with a girlfriend from Germany to show her around a place she got to know very well, albeit five years ago.
Having former guests/friends return to the hostel (sometimes on a regular basis) is quite a common occurance here at our Toronto hostel. But a five-year gap between visits is a bit unusual.
Nonetheless, we are absolutely elated that Julia has come back to visit. We hope we don’t have to wait another five years to see her again.
She and her friend have gone on to visit Otawa, Montreal and Quebec City where they plan to stay in hostels. They have promised to retun to our hostel before heading home to Germany.
