We had a heck of a party last night at our Toronto Hostel. A Canada Day BBQ has become a tradition here at our Toronto Hostel.
This year’s celebration was a pretty momentous event. About three hundred free burgers (including Veggie Burgers) were served with our compliments to all guests and friends.
Entertainment was provided by three bands and a balladeer. Toronto’s very popular 6-man busker band The Turbo Street Funk, followed by The Travis Birch Trio, and finally, the Montreal band The Groomsmen.
Our Irish backpacker/guest Philomena provided some beautiful vocals accompanied by fellow countryman/backpacker, Decklin on acoustic guitar. (The verdict was that this lady could easily do it professionally!)
The highlight of the evening was one of our neighbours leading several hundred people singing our National Anthem “O Canada”.
Christopher who lives on the next block of Widmer Street is a classically trained Opera Singer who led a rousing tribute to our nation. (He provided printed sheets with the lyrics). All people present got into the spirit of the day and joined in singing.
