Where is Canadiana Backpackers Inn Youth Hostel located?
We are located right in the center of downtown Toronto (3 blocks from the CN Tower), in the heart of the Entertainment district, just minutes from all the sites.

Is there a curfew?
No. Upon check-in, each guest is given a key to their room, as well as the hostel front door (which is locked at midnight). You can come and go as you please!

What is included in the price?
The price includes your stay in dormitory or private rooms, coffee in the morning, tea all day, as well as use of our facilities. Each bed is equipped with a blanket and pillow. Linens and towels are provided for a deposit (which is returned when you check-out from the hostel).

When are check-in and check-out times?
You can check-in to the hostel at any time, though rooms are not available until 1pm. We do have lockers where you can store your belongings until your room is ready. Check-out time is before 10:30am on the day you are due to leave.

What attractions are nearby?
As we are located in the center of downtown Toronto, we are minutes away from all the major tourist attractions – 3 minutes from Queen Street (a popular, funky, “hang-out” with endless pubs, restaurants, and shops), 5 minutes from the CN tower, SkyDome, and the Theatre District, and 10 minutes from Chinatown and Kensington Market. What is the difference between dormitory/shared style accommodation and private rooms?
At the Canadiana, we have shared/dormitory style rooms with 4, 6, or 8 beds, which you share with other people. We also have available single and double private rooms – the single room accommodates one person, and the double room accommodates a maximum of two people. All 25 of the washrooms are shared.

Are there parking facilities near to the hostel?
If you have a car and require parking, we do have parking spots for rent on a first come first serve basis, all within 1 minute of the hostel.

What type of payment do you accept?
We accept cash (Canadian & American), VISA, Mastercard, and Canadian or American travellers’ cheques.

What is your cancellation policy?
We require 24 hours notice of a cancellation, or you will be charged for the first night’s stay, on a credit card. (We can not confirm any bookings without credit card details).

How much does it cost to get to the hostel?

It depends on how you get here and from where. A taxi from the bus station or union station will cost you around $7 (with the meter on), this will take around 5 minutes.

From the Airport a taxi will cost around $50 and take between 25-45 minutes (depending on time of day, traffic etc...) and the Airport Shuttle will cost $18.50 and take around 40-50 minutes (dependant on time of day) and the shuttle stops just one block away from the hostel.


Is there Internet access in the hostel?
Yes, we have 2 free wireless Internet networks available in the hostel and several Internet terminals ($1 for 20 minutes) available in the main lobby of the hostel. Also you can print from the Internet terminals, plus we also give you a free prepaid voucher for the Internet terminals at check-in! If you need to print from the wireless network you can email it to the hostels reception staff where we will be happy to print it for you.

Do you have wi-fi?
Yes, there are 2 free wireless Internet networks available in the hostel.

Is breakfast included?
Yes, We serve a free pancake breakfast every morning at 9am (first come first served in the hostel lounge room). If you are running a bit late we also provide all the items needed to make your own pancake breakfast in one of our kitchen areas.

Do you have hairdryers/irons/Alarm clocks?
Yes, these are all available from the hostel reception for a small deposit.

What are the bathrooms like?
We have lots of bathrooms located all around the hostel, they are the normal house style of bathrooms, not the mall style ones (e.g. 1 person to a bathroom). All our washrooms are cleaned several times a day.

Are guests allowed in the hostel?
Yes, we allow guests in the hostel up until midnight, provided they bring along some photographic ID and and sign in at reception.

Am I allowed to smoke?
Smoking is not permitted in any of our buildings, but you can smoke outside the hostel. We are located in the heart of downtown Toronto (you can smoke there) and we also have a patio out the back of the hostel where you can smoke.

Are pets allowed?
No, sorry, we don't allow pets in the hostel.

Do you have lockers?
Yes, we have lockers of various sizes available on the first floor of the hostel, which will can hold anything from small items right up to large backpacks. We also have a secure storage room for items that will not fit in the lockers. It costs $1 to use the storage facilities for 24 hours.
